The HP Photosmart Compact laser photo printer
Whilst color printers can handle day to day print jobs, including
graphs and PowerPoint presentations, when it comes to printing at a high resolution for photos, you will need
something a little more powerful. If your printer does not print to 2400dpi, you should invest in a
laser photo printer. Rather
than replace your current printer, the addition of a compact dedicated laser photo printer will keep your toner
budget down, and will produce stunning photograph prints.
One of the best buys on the market is the HP Photosmart A636
compact laser photo printer. If you are looking for an idiot proof compact photo printer, which can be used to print photos
with extraordinary ease, then you really can’t go far wrong with this model. It is versatile with the ability to
print 4x6, 5x7 and 4x12 inch photos, and weighs in at less than 4 pounds including the battery. The compact size of
5.3 x 9.9 x 4.6 inches makes it one of the most portable laser photo
printer models on the market.
HP have brought the convenience of the photo lab to the
portable laser photo printer market with the addition of 4.8 inch touch screen operation panel with excellent photo
editing options. The A636 will not only remove red eye, but will fix pet green-eye reflections. You can crop,
resize and play around with photos via the touch screen, making editing and printing a breeze. The icons are easy
to use and the printing process could not be more straightforward.
So what does it all cost? The Photosmart A636 Compact
Laser Photo Printer is
available from only $149, the battery will set you back a further $24.99. Throw in a 120-photo print pack and you
will have change from $210. The efficiency is within an acceptable range at 29.2 cents per 4x6 photo, and only 4
cents off its best competitor. It’s not the fastest printer on the market, being almost twice as slow as the Epson
Picturemate range, and at $50 more, it’s not the cheapest.
However, when it comes to the whole package, the extra $50 goes a
long way. The three picture size printing, a lightweight design, and excellent portability would be enough. Add the
touch screen and the photo editing suite and this laser photo
printer from HP seems incredible value for money. It’s
definitely a first rate buy.
